It's our 47th, yes 47, wedding anniversary today and it's also 5 years since we were here last. We took the local bus down the coast to Altafulla, where Rosemary's hair dresser lives and recommended we visit.
A place of two halves. North of the railway it's a typical old Spanish village but with Roman remains, 10th century castle and a Hermitage of course. We walked up to the castle which is now a hotel. The Roman town interpretation centre was closed for siesta! On the way down to the beach we stopped for lunch of beer and bread and cheese (that's living!) in a locals tapas bar.
South of the railway is a very pretty sea front with fine sandy beach and fisherman's style cottages many of which are now bars, cafes and ice-cream parlours. We had coffee and an ice cream and returned in time to cook dinner.
I went for a swim in the pool while Rosemary sourced the ingredients for a paella which we cooked on the Jamie and was every bit as good as the restaurant. Opened another couple of bottles (small ones) of cava to celebrate the 47 years of happy marriage.
